Lucy Lu speakeasy heads to 25 Jump Street Dubai

Lucy Lu, the speakeasy that began in Beirut's Gemmayze neighbourhood, is heading to 25 Jump Street in Trade Centre, Dubai, this October, FACT Magazine reported on 8 October. It sits behind 25hours Hotel One Central, and the only clue to the way in is a discreet blue door. Inside, it is sharing plates and classic cocktails with house twists, then softer lights, more volume and a live DJ after dark.

The friend who knows the way in

You know this person. They send a location pin and one line. Look for the blue door. You walk past it once. You walk back. Someone in the group asks if this is really the place. Then the door opens, and the whole night starts with a laugh on the pavement before anyone has ordered a drink.

Why Lucy Lu chose not to be easy to find

FACT says the Beirut original built its name through word of mouth, and the Dubai team wants to keep it that way. "Lucy Lu was never meant to be found easily, and Dubai doesn't change that," the team told the magazine. "The rabbit keeps watch. The door decides who comes in."

The rabbit is the concept's warrior rabbit mascot, a familiar face to anyone who knows the Beirut bar. Around it, FACT describes deep maroon tones and dark wood, an intimate room that works as a dinner spot first and a place to carry on the night after.

That is a brave choice in a city where most venues fight to be seen from the road. Lucy Lu is betting that the people who find it will do the talking.

A street built for discovery at 25 Jump Street, Dubai

The blue door has neighbours. FACT describes 25 Jump Street as Dubai's first licensed dining strip, created through a partnership between 7 Management and Ennismore, with 12 concepts including Antika, Em Sherif Deli, Lady Bird, Junk, Pepperoni Comedy Club and YUBI Handroll Bar. So a dinner on the strip can turn into a comedy set, a handroll or a hidden bar without anyone getting back in a car.
